Psychological Trauma and Chiropractic
Psychological trauma such as PTSD can occur under extremely stressful life events and situations. Symptoms include increased reactivity, trouble with cognition, insomnia, fear, erratic behavior, and more. Psychological stress stimulates the sympathetic nervous system which in turn triggers defense physiology in the body. This is a negative feedback loop where the body is in defense, enhancing mental symptoms of stress as a protective measure. The mind and body are related in every possible way. The same way that the mind's stress influences more stress in the body, healing the body helps heal the mind. Chiropractic is excellent at reducing sympathetic stimulation, neural and muscular tension, and pains. It also helps improve adaptability, flexibility, and balance.
